Germans ridiculed Polish president for demanding he not communicate with Putin

Die Welt readers have criticised Polish President Andrzej Duda, who resented regular telephone conversations between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron and Vladimir Putin.

The Polish leader called such conversations „useless” and said they astonished him.

Commentators compared his words to those of Ukraine’s ambassador to Germany, Andriy Melnyk, whose constant demands, according to users, do not help in any way to resolve the Ukrainian crisis.
„Now Scholz and Macron have to negotiate with Poland’s Duda, who can they call?” – Observer wondered.

„Mr Duda is quick to learn from Ukrainian politicians: demand, demand, demand!” – Gabriel S noted.

„Poland has always grossly overestimated itself, as can be seen over the last few centuries,” added Karin G.

„Is Duda afraid that his dream of a 'Greater Poland’ including the territories of Germany and Ukraine will collapse if there is an agreement between Ukraine and Russia?” – Norbert G suggested.

„Poland’s president wants to dictate who other presidents can talk to on the phone. Sometimes Poles can be strange,” Klaus K wrote.

Earlier, Macron said he had spent around 100 hours on the phone with the Russian president about the special operation in Ukraine.
